AND SPORTS COMMITTEE
Minutes of General Meeting – 10th March 2008

PRESENT:                   Tony Birch (Chairman)

  1.  MINUTES OF LAST MEETING    The minutes of the meeting held on 14th January were agreed and signed as a true record.
  1. MATTERS ARISING:
  2.  Equipment     It  was suggested that a laminator be bought to protect signs from rainy weather.   These are a t present on offer at the Wynstay and all agreed that one should be purchased.

It was also agreed that sides be obtained for the Gazebos.  If a grant could be secured, another generator would be useful.   We might also purchase extra fluorescent jackets.

  1. Attractions.     The Jester and Drum Band have been booked.  Fairground and Bouncy Castle to be confirmed.   E-mails have been sent to The George Formby Society, the Chocolate Lady and Crockpots.  The Hog Roast and St. John’s Ambulance are available.   The Donut man and Flower Stall also booked.    Gwyneth is to approach the Cider Man.   Tony is to book a Bungee Run at a cost of £250.

The Craft people are to be approached and will be charged this year for the tables.
No success so far with Morris Dancers.

  1. Judges.    The present situation is as follows:-

Horticulture:  Andrew Jones not available.   To try Alec Birch.  
Floral Art:        To approach Betty Jones
Patio:    Shelly Wilde to be approached again.
Craft:   Angela Hawkins has confirmed.
Woodwork:  Mervin still to be contacted.
Art and Photography:  No-one at present.
Cookery:  Jean Evans from Llanrhaeadr has confirmed.
Children’s’ Craft:  Delyth Evans to be approached.
Dog show:   In hand.

(d)Cheese and Wine Evening.   June has contacted Emma Maxwell who might be available to give a talk on “The History of the Dingle”with slides for £60.   All agreed and June will confirm.

  1. PRESIDENT  Alan Morris has agreed to be President for 2008   His family were involved with the Show from the very early days.

 

  1. ANY OTHER BUSINESS
  2. 100 Membership badges to be ordered in blue.
  3. A list of attractions to be sent to Ernie Bradbury.
  4. The Church would like to be more involved with the show and the Vicar has offered to house exhibits there, e.g. children’s crafts.
  5. Steve at the Plas would like to use one of the Marquees for a fundraiser on the Sunday.    This would be no problem, provided the tent was left ready for our show use.
  6. Plas yn Dinas to be approached again for Judges’ lunches.
  7. We already receive sponsorship from some village members.   Dick suggested we try to find more individual sponsors.
